Dear Cruiser,
We have found the perfect hotel for your stay the night before our Murder Mystery Cruise March 21st. As we always do, we suggest that you come in the night before. This alleviates any problems with cancelled flights, delayed flight or missed connections. You certainly don’t want to miss the boat.
The Doubletree Hotel in Tampa has worked out a great deal with us for our cruisers. They will pick up at the airport, take us to the cruise port the next day and upon return, pick us up from the cruise port and back to the airport. Most hotels in our area do not offer this complete service. In addition, the hotel is very close to the International Mall, one of our premier malls in the Tampa Bay area and the hotel offers free shuttle service to the mall. The mall offers a great selection of restaurants, including the Cheesecake Factory (my personal favorite) for you to dine at if you choose although the hotel does have a very fine restaurant. Next door to the hotel is Charlie’s Steak House, I’ve heard it’s better then Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse which is a few blocks from the hotel. Also close by are Maggiano’s Little Italy, The Palm and PF Chang’s plus all manner of restaurants of various tastes and price points. If you forgot something at home for the cruise, the International Mall and the Westshore Mall are available for you to run to and pick up that last minute item.
If you would like to stay at the Doubletree pre-cruise, let us know and we will handle the booking for you. We will not be charging your credit card for the rooms until about a month out so please let us know what credit card you would like the room charged to. If you need a handicap room or a suite (they are limited) let us know so we can arrange ahead of time for them to be in our allotment.
The room rates for 2 adults are $139 plus taxes of $16.68. Three adults in a room is $149 plus taxes of $17.88 and 4 adults in a room is $159 plus taxes of $19.08. A junior suite is $179 plus taxes of $21.48. All these prices quoted are for one night. Children/teens sharing the same room are free. Please specify if you’d like a King size bed or 2 Queens. If you are a Hilton Honors member, let us know your Honors number. If you are driving to Tampa, we will be able to park our car at the hotel for no extra cost for the length of the cruise. If you would like to come in a couple of days ahead of the cruise or even spend the night in Tampa post-cruise, let us know and we can arrange that for you as well. If you have not checked into flight arrangements for the cruise, don’t wait too long as this is Spring Break time in Tampa and flights can get a little pricey if you wait. And remember, we are a major hub for Southwest Airlines who does not charge you for your first two bags that you check in, unlike all the other airlines. And since we’re cruising, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of luggage to bring along.
There is also a rumor of a private get-together that Saturday evening after dinner with Bruce at the hotel which we will give you more information on that later when the details get ironed out.
